Easter Egg

Happy Wednesday Crafty Peeps!

Today I am showing my DT card for Twist Of Faith Cards and this weeks theme is EASTER.  Our sponsor is Robyn's Fetish, who has a great variety of images, and is giving one of our lucky crafters their choice of 5 digital images.  I chose this lovely Easter Egg to work with and try something new.
I have long admired the paper piecing work of a very talented lady named Marishka and in her case I like to call it EXTREME paper piecing.  Her work is amazing and so I thought I would give it a whirl using this simple design.  I used 8 copies of the image to make it, coloring and cutting certain pieces of each layer and using sticky foam between each.
You should see it in person.  The photos do not do the layers or the colors justice.  Here is a more severe angle to show off those layers.

Now, when it's open.

It took much longer than I expected but I'm happy with the results and can't wait to try this technique again.  I do think some of the slow-down could have been due to my VERY messy desk, I call it my creative chaos.  My glasses are in there somewhere...
Thank You  for stopping by and taking a look around.  Have a happy hump day and don't forget, there's booty to be had in the form of BLOG CANDY!

♥ Laura C.

Laura this is fantastic! Ive never tried piecing but I think I want to know... your egg looks so awesome! And Im pretty sure my desk looks like yours 80% of the time... I decide to clean up when my work space reaches less than a 6x6 square area and I have a quite large desk lol...

Your card is FANTASTIC! I follow a lady in the UK who does lovely decoupage (3-D) cards, and your's is every bit as wonderful. Lots of work, but oh so rewarding in the end. I had to smile at your desk -- other than the computer, mine looks similar. I would NEVER get anything done if my computer was so close at hand. Again, FAB card, beautifully done!
