Wintery Lantern

Good Friday To You My Crafty Friends!

Today I am posting a project that I made for myself which is something I haven't done in a long time.  You know how it goes when you're trying to keep up with with birthdays and holidays, a job, family time...
I guess you could call this a lantern as it has four sides and a candle in the middle.  I saw a similar thing on Pinterest HERE and my brain started spinning on how I could make one with stuff I already have.  This design makes me think of the scene from Frosty The Snowman when he and Sharon are in the greenhouse.  Crazy, right?  LOL!
I cut the four sides from white cardstock using my Cricut and the Ornamental Iron 2 cartridge and edged with Spun Sugar Distress Ink.  I then randomly stamped three Magnolia Snowflakes (from the latest release) onto craft plastic and heat embossed them with Ranger's Holographic Embossing Powder to create windows.
The Poinsettias, Snowflakes and Tags adorning the outside are from the Magnolia DooHickeys Club 2 collection and the fern is from the Magnolia DooHickeys Leaf & Swirl set.  The snowflakes and leaves are covered in holographic embossing powder.  The tags and poinsettia flowers are pink cardstock edged with Aged Mahogany Distress Ink and the green leaves are white cardstock inked with Bundled Sage Distress Ink.
I painted a wooden napkin ring white to use as the base of the candle in order to lift it up to a good height.  The tea light is wrapped in Doodle Bug Dotty DP.  A touch of lace here, some pearls there and voila!

I made the mistake of putting the four sides together before embellishing.  Don't do that!  Especially if your panels are delicate.  There isn't a lot of structure to hold all of the flowers and leaves, and getting them glued into place while it's standing up is a nightmare.  :p

Thank you so much for stopping by and taking a look, I really appreciate you taking the time.  I hope you like my creation enough to leave a comment.  I just so wish the pictures did it justice because this is so shimmery and sparkly in person.

Have a fantastic day, and better tomorrows!
