A Little Christmas In July

Hello My Dear Crafting and Blogging Friends!

It has been exactly 8 weeks since I last crafted and posted a card and I've missed it so much.  I've gotten a little too busy with planning my youngest daughter's wedding, which is next March, and it's amazing how fast the time is flying.  I have been quite sick with Strep and then a nasty cold for the past 11 days and so once I could function somewhat normally again, decided I would cheer myself up with some card making.

So I have for you today Edwin With Sack from the 2012 Magnolia Christmas Story Collection, paired up with the Snowy Roof (from the same collection).
One of my favorite Christmastime songs is "Up On The Housetop" and that was the inspiration for my card.  I colored with my Copics and then got a little crazy with the glitter.
I mixed up a glue and paint concoction to make a sort of texture medium for the fur on Edwin's coat and also for the snowy accents on the poinsettia and snowflakes, then added more glitter.
This is the first time I've used my Spellbinder's Poinsettia dies and I LOVE them!  I've also used the Sizzix Snow Flurries die by Tim Holtz and the MS Branch Punch.
For the finishing touches I added jingle bells to the ribbon bows, pearls to my snowflakes and poinsettia and then stamped my sentiment.
This is the sketch I followed from Papertake Weekly, only I flipped it.
Have you all noticed that some of the craft stores are putting in their Christmas merchandise already?  I don't know about you, but that makes my heart skip a beat in anticipation.  Oh, and the brochure for the Hallmark Ornament Premier just arrived.  Woo Hoo!  Our temps have been around 115 F, and there is no sign of it letting up soon, but the thought of Christmastime and "cooler" weather lifts my spirits, so a shopping I will go.

I very much appreciate you stopping by and taking a look.  If you have a few extra seconds, I would love for you to leave a comment.  Take care, have a great day and better tomorrows!

♥ Laura C.

Hi Laura,
Great to hear you are getting better :o)
Your card is lovely. I love the red bells on
the white bows. Edwin is beautifully coloured. Great poinsettia too.
You asked me about the Frantage on my card. I used a pad of glue to the card and then added the Frantage. It was very evident that I did, as you could see the square edges where the Frantage ended. Next time I think I will use a little dauber to tap it on, and hopefully avoid that problem. Hope I have helped :o)
Big Hugs, Candy
