Tropical Drinks

Hello everyone and welcome to my blog!  I have a new card to show you, but first, I must show you this photo.

I stepped outside for a moment yesterday morning and noticed that I didn't get the usual "oven blast" effect that I normally do.  So I took that as a good sign to hurry up and mow the lawn before either the sun came out from behind the clouds or said clouds opened up and dumped water on me.  As I was mowing, I looked up as saw this...
So I ran in the house to get the camera.  I finished the mowing just in time.

After my yard work was done, I sat down and finished my card.  This is actually a good representation of my favorite style of papercrafting.  I love piecing together scenes using die-cuts, punches and some good old fashioned hand cutting.  I did a lot of this in my scrapbooking days.  I know it really isn't the "trend" anymore, but some old habits die hard.
This card is for my sister-in-law and frequent patio companion.  I've included my favorite Mojito recipe (husband's recipe actually) and will give this in conjunction with the drink fixin's.  I am even including Mojito glasses and a mint plant.  If I can find one of those cool ice cube trays, I will include that too.
A side view to show the layers.   The song Kokomo by The Beach Boys was playing in my head the whole time I was making this.  Yes, that's two whole days of the same song...

I tried to make it look like I wrote Happy Birthday in the sand...

Thank you so very much for stopping by.  Please leave a comment at the bottom of this post and check out my other posts if you haven't yet.  Become a follower by hitting the "join this site" button and follow by email so that you can know when I've posted something new.   I have listed the products that I used below.  I hope to see you all again soon.  Have a great day and an even better tomorrow!

If by "cool ice cube trays" you mean the ones that make perfectly "cubed" cubes, try Crate and Barrel. I bought mine from there. It's silicone and makes about 12 cubes.

Oh, and the card is um-cute! That's not news though, I always love your cards!!! :)

How creative, Laura. This is so cute. Tilda makes a great bar tender...or is she enjoying her Pina Colada? Either way, she is adorable. Awesome photo of those clouds.

OMG Laura, I love the layout and how darn cute is this idea. Fabulous card and receipe is a great idea for the inside. You really got a great cloud picture of the storm nearby. We just had those clouds last night here with hail and a inch of rain. They are beautiful even though they bring destruction.
