Christmas In July

I have had Christmas songs in my head since I started on this card a couple days ago and with the ornament premier coming up this weekend, I am ready to get this holiday season started!  (It's a coping mechanism, to deal with the heat that won't subside until October)...  LOL!

I think this will always be my favorite Tilda stamp. When I first laid eyes on a Magnolia Ink magazine, it was the Christmas 2010 edition and Santa's Little Helper stole my heart.  I became infatuated with the Maggie stamps and magazines because I had finally found a style that said, "this is me".

My card turned out much differently then I intended.  I'm consoling myself by believing that I am not the only one that this happens to.  I had totally different papers chosen, went out and purchased Copics to match that paper, and once Tilda was done, saw that the inks were darker and redder than I thought they'd be.  So I dove into my paper stash and came up with some gorgeous papers by Imaginisce that I've been holding onto for just the right project.

I wanted this card to have a rustic feel so I roughened up the papers, made lots of layers and inked some edges.  I colored the half-pearls with E19 and dyed the ribbon with Fired Brick distress ink to bring out the polka-dots in the red DP.  I'm still working on "coloring" white, like on Tilda's hat brim and her apron.

I hope this gives you a little jump on your holiday spirit like it did for me.  Thank You so much for stopping by!  More of what I used to make this card is listed below.  Please leave a comment by clicking on the comments link at the bottom of this post.  I love to hear from you and your comments have been so inspiring.

Have a great day and an even better tomorrow!

♥ Laura C.

Laura,
I am a big fan of this little cutie also. They say in art, "there are no mistakes". I'm not sure who "they" are, but I must agree.

Your card is just beautiful and very rustic. Just love the design and your coloring.
